Meet the Governors

Welcome to our Governors' section. Here you can find information on who the governors are and find minutes of previous meetings.

The Governing Board consists of 11 individuals who are committed to improving the education of all pupils at Langdale Primary School. They are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school, holding the headteacher to account for educational performance, and ensuring the financial health of the school.

Meet the team:

 

Jenny Herbert (Chair): Foundation Governor- serving until 2018

Jenny has been a governor at the school since moving to the area in 2012 and is currently the chair (from October 2016). Jenny has two small children and lives in Clayton. She is employed by Staffordshire County Council to support teams to become more effective and efficient. Jenny sits on the Staffing Committee and is link governor for the Curriculum, and governor training and development.

Richard Kirk (Vice Chair): Co-opted Governor- serving until 2020

Richard is a co-opted member of the Governing Board and is currently the vice chair. Richard is the link governor for Finance and a member of the Pay Committee.

Richard currently works for Michelin Tyres as a training instructor/system manager. He has 2 children at Langdale Primary School.

Rachael Green (Vice Chair)- Parent Governor –serving until 2018

Rachael is an elected parent governor with one child at the school, following her oldest child recently moving onto High School. Racheal joined the governing body to give the schools children the desire to learn and grow into positive and conscientious members of the community. She works in the public sector in Human Resources and is fully CIPD qualified. Rachael chairs the Staffing Committee and is the link governor for Safeguarding, child protection, staff wellbeing and governor training and development.

Paul Trinder: Parent Governor- serving until 2017

Paul is an elected parent governor and has 2 children at the school . He works for the public sector as an epidemiologist and as a result brings knowledge to the Board of local trends and demographics alongside strong data analysis skills. Paul is one of the link governors for Curriculum.

Rachel Worrall: Staff Governor- serving until 2018

Rachel is a staff governor who teaches year 6 at Langdale Primary School. Rachel is the link governor for Pupil Well-being

Michael Shenton: Local Authority Governor- serving until 2019

Michael is a Local Authority Governor, the link governor for premises, health and safety, and member of the Pay Committee. Michael works for local government and holds many voluntary community roles including being the founder member of “the friends of Lyme Valley Parkway”. Michael joined the governing body to have the opportunity to help shape children’s future in both learning and as a foundation block for life.

Sebastian Aston-Deaville: Co-opted Governor- serving until 2018

Sebastian is the link governor for Pupil Progress and Achievement and a member of the Pay Committee

Mrs Russell: Headteacher

​Mrs Russell automatically became a member of the Governing Board when she became Headteacher in September 2015, and will remain a member throughout her employment in this role. She is also a member of the Staffing Committee

Associate Governors:

​When the Governing Board have a skills gap or require additional capacity they are able to appoint Associate Governors to help fulfil their duties. Associate Governors attend meetings and receive all paperwork but do not have voting rights. Our current Associate Governors are:

  • Gemma Hanmer - appointed in 2016. Gemma is a Solicitor and brings legal expertise to the Board. She also has a child at the school. No business or pecuniary interests.
