Science

In the Spring term of 2017, Year 4 will be investigating animals and their habitats!

We will start our Science lessons by taking a walk around our school grounds and taking part in a mini-beast hunt! Children will then think about why certain insects and animals choose to hibernate or live in certain areas of our school grounds. From this, we then create a Woodlice investigation and monitor the changes of the woodlice as we add variations to its habitat.

Our Science lesson overviews are found below:

1. What animals can I find in our school grounds?

2. Can I develop my understanding of what a habitat is by presenting information using appropriate vocabulary?

3. Can I investigate and explain how woodlice like to live?

4. Can I explain how animals can survive in extreme conditions?

5. Can I show my understanding of how animals change and adapt to suit different conditions?

6. Can I use classification diagrams to identify creatures uniquely, investigating which group each animal belongs to?
