At Langdale, we place great importance on a curriculum which develops the whole child. Through our core values, we foster an environment where the emotional, physical, academic, social, moral, spiritual and cultural development of each child is considered.
Our curriculum is mapped to include coverage of the National Curriculum and provides a range of experiences for our pupils through an enhanced curriculum. Our curriculum is designed to challenge, engage and motivate with the ultimate goal that our learners become successful, confident individuals, who make a positive contribution to the community and society - both now and in the future.
For our core subjects, we use a variety of planning resources as we believe that following one programme does not provide the bespoke teaching and learning experience that we want for our pupils. Using prior knowledge as a starting point for all future planning and teaching, we plan lessons which are required for all pupils to make progress. Our lessons follow a cycle of planning, to ensure that we can evidence progress over short and long periods of time. For assessment, we use the FOCUS Education "Tracking Progress Towards the Higher and National Standard document". We capture data at 3 points across the year, but this will be in accordance with the needs of the child.
We have a minimum core offer for all vulnerable pupils and pupils who aren't making progress, allowing us to be certain that we are meeting our INTENT of developing pupils academically.
