This week Wraparound have built on their knowledge and understanding of a 'Healthy Lifestyle'. Throughout the week the children have seperated various foods into healthy and unhealthy body during circle time. This has been extended by categorising foods into food groups in relation to the 'eat well plate', by discussing carbs, dairy, fats, protein and fruit and vegetables. We have also discussed why each food group is important for our bodies. The children have enjoyed making vegetable soup in the water, cutting wooden food using utensils and pretending to make food using the kitchen to create healthy meals using the play food. We have been categorising fruit by colour/number using the super sorting pie and grabbers. Turn taking has been promoted whilst playing the carrot memory and shopping trolley game. Lots of art work has been created throughout the week such as cutting and sticking various foods and matching them to healthy and unhealthy teeth, colouring pictures and creating meals using playdough. We also made fruit smoothies, by cutting up strawberries, bananas, raspberries, blueberries, as well as using a scoop to add ice cream. The children loved making smoothies and even poured them into their cups independently!
