In Nursery, we have now moved on to looking at creatures that live under the sea. We have been exploring the story of 'Scary Shark' which gave us a great opportunity to look at different creatures, such as: lobsters, oysters, sharks and clown fish. In our provision, we have had opportunities to look at creatures we may not have seen before in our sensory tough spot.
The children have also been fishing for writing patterns to help improve their writing abilities, making movements that zig, zag, spiral around and have joined lines together to make shapes. We have had a focused maths activity, where children have had to find fish that were hiding under the water and find what number what written on their bodies. This has been a great opportunities for the children to match quantities to numerals and to practice careful counting.
We have then build upon our developing maths skills during our Welly Wednesday activity. We played 'shark attack' where children had to find a boat that match there numbered ticket before the hungry shark came. The children love learning how to identify numbers and count carefully to help them find corresponding numerals so they didn't get eaten by the shark.
