This week Wraparound have focussed on the story of 'The Three Little Pigs'. Throughout the week we have been constructing houses for the characters of the story using stickle bricks, lego, wooden blocks and foam bricks. The children have re-enacted the story using masks, wooden figures and puppets in our story sensory tuff spot. We have also looked at different variations of the story such as "Blow Your Nose Big Bad Wolf" which encouraged discussion in relation to noticing similarities and differences between the stories and characters, and also promoted good hygiene such as hand washing and using tissues to catch our germs. Number recognition has been promoted, as the children have been matching quantities by touch and subitising to recognise numerals 1-5 in various forms displayed on houses and using tweezers and grabbers to match the amount of coloured pigs. Amazing crafts have been created such as houses for the characters using sticks, straw, brick paper and other resources. The children have used stencils to create stick puppets and used playdoiugh to create different representations such as shapes, characters, cakes and food.
Next week we will be looking at the story of the 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'.
