Nursery have started to explore the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. We have looked at themes such as life cycles, healthy eating and mini beasts. Children have created some beautiful paintings and drawings from the story and have talked about the life cycle process well.
The children have also been on a mini beats hunt. We looked at their micro habitats to see where we might find different mini beast and went off to explore. The children found worms, woodlice, spiders, slugs, millipedes centipedes, ladybirds and even a caterpillar! The children handled the creatures with care and carefully put them in their bug catchers to look closely at. We then safety returned them to their habitats.
During circle time, we discussed healthy bodies and how we could keep our bodies healthy. We talked about eating healthy foods (lots of fruits and vegetables), drinking water and milk and doing lots of exercise. We then had a quick work out to see the change in our heart beat and discussed how our heart works hard to keep our body healthy.
