Our final week of our 'Fantastic Beasts' topic has concluded with the story 'Zog'. We have talked about how Zog, and dragons, are creatures of fantasy which makes them fictional. The children loved the familiar story and watched it come to alive on the big screen with animation. We explored the importance of trying your best at school and rewarding others when they had done well.
The children have made medals using crafting materials and rewarded others in the class for doing something kind (being a good friend etc). We have also being adding quantities to numerals with dragon nests and developed further maths skills by seeing how many stars we could collect in a minute and compared quantities to see who had the most or least. The children have been working hard to develop their pencil grips in multiple way, focussing on correct grips, and drawn great pictures and even had a go at writing their names. They have also enjoyed the small world, playing with castles and dragons and making meals in the role play. We revisited our knowledge of colour mixing to make healing remedies for Zog and the other dragons. The children were able to make green, orange and purple by mixing together different primary colours.
