Firstly, we watched a short video of the children lost in the forest then stumbling across an amazing house made of gingerbread! At that point, we made some gingerbread dough and designed our own house using square and triangle cookie cutters. While the cookies were in the oven, we discussed how the lost children would have felt at different moments then went outside under the trees (our forest!) to role play conscience alley. At key moments, our Hansel and Gretel were ‘thought-tapped’ and asked questions about how they were feeling and why there were there. We all gave them the advice “Don’t go into the house!” Finally, we decorated our gingerbread houses and ate them—delicious! Now we can’t wait to read the story and find out what happens next!
