At Langdale Primary School we value music because it is a powerful and unique art form. Music boosts creativity and supports development in social skills, self-discipline and confidence. This policy is informed by current national guidance on best practice, in-service training, staff discussion and professional judgement.
Aims for our policy:
What does this look like at Langdale?
Each child will have a half term of hour group sessions with a professional music teacher. Children will have the opportunity to continue with private or small group tuition, with financial help available for Pupil Premium families.
All other music lessons are taught by class teachers. Where possible, music objectives will be taught through the Creative Curriculum. However, to ensure all musical skills are covered, units will also be taught using the CHARANGA website, developed and recommended by Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Music Education Hub.
